MAGIC & MANIFESTATION WEEKEND WORKSHOP (30-31st August)
Since the release of movies such as ‘What the Bleep’ and ‘The Secret’ there has been a huge increase in the number of people interested in the laws of attraction and manifestation.
If you’d like to learn more about how to tap into your own magical powers and create the life of your dreams, I’ll be holding a full two day interactive weekend workshop in late August (30th & 31st) at the Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne on Magic & Manifestation with Howard Tinker of LifeTools Australia.
I believe most people have lost the ability to work with supernatural forces and natural energies. Yet we all know people who seem to be lucky or can always find that elusive car spot, dream job or have what they want practically falling into their lap. How do they do it? What is the secret behind ‘The Secret’? Well come along to our Magic and Manifestation Weekend Workshop and find out! Visit workshop for full details or to register.
BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND YOU WILL HAVE...
- Clarified your dreams and goals
- Identified any resistance to making these dreams and goals come true.
- Learned rituals, spells and meditations to overcome your resistance.
- Discovered how to work with guides and higher energetic vibrations.
- Developed tools to allow magic to flow into your life on a daily basis.
- Mastered a practical step by step routine to follow each time you want to manifest something.
And early birds (first 25 to register) can pick up a special free gift – so don’t delay – if this sounds like something you might be interested in, go to workshop now.
IMBOLC – FESTIVAL OF LIGHT
The Celts celebrated eight fire festivals each year marking the seasonal changes and occurring roughly every 6-½ weeks. The festival of Imbolc at the beginning of August heralds the end of winter and the return of the light. Although the nights are still long, the first signs of spring are beginning to appear. A beautiful folk custom, still practiced in many countries, is to place a lighted candle in each window of the house at sunset or to carry a lighted white candle through the home to welcome the growing strength of the sun. Energy starts to increase at this time of year, so now is the time to tackle the spring cleaning and as the Sun moves into health conscious Virgo on the 23rd, blow away the winter blues with a sauna or spa treatment.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEO
The Sun travels through fire sign Leo from 22nd July – 23rd August. Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac with keywords “I express” and “I stand out”. Leo’s symbol is the lion, king of the beasts, but also the beast within who must be subdued and civilised. Lions in art and myth are symbols of strength, supremacy, glory and brilliance. Leos are extremely creative and love to show off their talents. They are often attracted to the performing arts or any role where they can shine and lead others. At best they are loving, loyal, affectionate and sincere, displaying willpower, courage, dignity and leadership and radiating confidence. Negatively, Leos can be arrogant, bossy, vain and over-dramatic. Leo rules the heart, circulatory system and spine. When Leos are out of balance they can suffer from back pain, nervous palpitations, high blood pressure, fever, stroke and heart disease. The Leo colours are gold and orange. Leo is ruled by the Sun, so those with a prominent Sun in their chart often display Leo qualities. Leo’s greatest lesson is to learn that they are not the centre of the universe. The true leader is the servant of all!
How to handle a Leo
So how do you handle a Leo? Well you’ve heard of lion tamers.... and don’t lions have their own special enclosure at the zoo? Well actually, it’s actually incredibly easy to handle a Leo. All you have to do is flatter them, offer gifts and display sincere admiration. Yes, it really is that simple. No Scorpio would fall for this, but courtiers have been flattering kings for centuries. A Leo knows they are the best, so when you tell them so, they think you are displaying good judgement and taste. And how do you annoy a Leo? Ignore them or make fun of them. Works a treat!
SEDUCING A LEO
This segment is proving particularly popular....and this is supposed to be a serious astrology newsletter. Oh well here’s how to get a Leo into bed (a king sized one of course...)
TIPS FOR MEN
If you own a sports car, you're well on the way. The Leo woman likes to show off and be seen in cool places. If your car is a little more 'downmarket' shall we say, or even non-existent, pick her up in a taxi and take her for a lavish night on the town. She'll recognise your style & admire you for taking the trouble. Learn about cocktails. Learn about perfume. Learn about flowers. Learn about what she likes. Then surprise her with your new found knowledge. Try Latin dancing or tango or anything that will lift you out of the ranks of the dull and unadventurous. This woman is screaming out for someone with a bit of flair!
TIPS FOR WOMEN
If you've fallen for a Leo man you'll have to learn that he calls the shots. It may not seem that way at first, but after a while, you'll notice that he always gets his own way. Don't fight it. Enjoy it. After all if you wanted a pushover, you wouldn't have chosen him. Don't compete with him - just don't OK! A Leo guy wants his partner to show him he's the centre of the universe, so be proud of him in public and in private too. Avoid cynicism and teasing and don’t be stingy. Gifts go down well coupled with lots of warmth, admiration and affection. Leo is the drama queen of the zodiac so enjoy being in the audience!
HEAR STELLA ON TALKBACK RADIO
For the past five and a half years, I’ve been the guest on an astrology talkback segment on Melbourne’s 3RRR radio station. Several of you have written asking when you can hear me on air, so I thought I’d publish the dates for you. If you’re in Greater Melbourne, it’s easy to tune in and the program is also available on streaming audio via the 3RRR website www.rrr.org.au (but only while the show is being broadcast). I start with a brief run down of what’s happening in the stars that week, and then the lines open for talkback callers asking questions about astrology and how it affects their lives. Anyone is welcome to call in on (03) 9388 1027.
Upcoming shows: Wednesday 13th August (10-11 am) & Wednesday 27th August (10-11 am) Wax Lyrical - Melbourne’s 3RRR 102.7 FM - hosted by Namila Benson
AUGUST ECLIPSES & THE BEIJING OLYMPICS
Of all the celestial events visible from the Earth, eclipses are by far the most impressive. On August 1st there is a total eclipse of the sun at the new moon at 10° Leo. The exact time of the eclipse is 8.15 pm Australian East Coast Time, so as this is after sunset, the eclipse will not be visible in Australia. Each eclipse has a symbolic meaning. The keyword for this solar eclipse is transfiguration. We have the image of early morning dew sparkling as sunlight floods the fields symbolising the feelings of joy experienced by those who have emerged from the dark night of the soul. Astrologer Bernadette Brady offers a similar interpretation. “Breaking out of a very negative situation where no hope can be seen, to a more positive space containing many options. A worry that may have been affecting a person will suddenly clear.” People with planets in mid Leo will feel the effects of the eclipse, most strongly, especially those born a few days either side of the 1st August.
The Beijing Olympics begin just after this eclipse. China has a Mars Pluto conjunction in Leo close to the eclipse degree, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Usually an eclipse brings things to the surface that need to be dealt with and China’s Mars Pluto combination offers tremendous and often ruthless power that can be harnessed for either good or bad. China also has its Saturn return in September, indicating a maturing process, so the Olympics could be a turning point, allowing the country to emerge from the dark night of the soul and play a new role on the world stage. On the other hand, China could be forced to deal with its human rights abuses as the country comes under international scrutiny. The transiting North Node (collective karmic destiny) is conjunct the healing asteroid Chiron for the whole of August, so this will surely play a part in the story too.
On 17th August there is a second eclipse – this time a partial eclipse of the moon at 7.19 am AEST at 25° Aquarius. The word ‘eclipse’ comes from a Greek word meaning 'abandonment' or 'failure'. A lunar eclipse only ever happens at full moon and occurs when the Moon passes through the Earth's shadow. The colour actually changes from one eclipse to another, ranging from a bright coppery orange to a reddy-brown hue.
AUGUST ASTRO ENERGIES
“This immortal silver dish of wonder, cruising among the beautiful stars and racing clouds, turning waking life itself into a sort of dream, has been a force and presence even more powerful in the shaping of mythology than the sun, by which its light and its world of stars, night sounds, erotic moods, and the magic of dream, are daily quenched." (Joseph Campbell)
What a beautiful, poetic interpretation of our moon, and this month we have two new moons, one on the first and one on the final day of August plus two eclipses. Of course if we reverted to the lunar calendar used by our ancestors, there would be thirteen months (moon cycles) in a year – each 28 days long - but that’s a topic for another day!
The early part of August is dominated by fiery Leo energy with Mercury, Venus and the North Node travelling alongside the Sun and Moon. You probably won’t feel like working, so catch up with friends, paint that picture, head off to the ski slopes or spend time with your children.Leo is quite a selfish energy, so if you’ve been neglecting your own interests in favour of work, family or community, now is the time to redress the balance.
By the second week of August, Venus and Mercury have moved into sober earth sign Virgo to join up with Mars and Saturn. You won’t be able to escape this huge dose of Virgo energy, which continues unabated until the end of the month, so here are some tips for making the most of it.
Virgo is a practical, results-oriented sign, so August is a good time for making and executing detailed plans, both at work and in the home. Tax returns, budgets, first drafts and architectural plans will all flourish under this energy. Virgo rules health, hygiene and nutrition, so if you’ve been overdosing on chocolate, party pies, TV and couch surfing, August is the month to turn over a new leaf. Plant a veggie garden for spring, head down to the gym or take up a yoga course. Virgo is the patron goddess of artisans and craftspeople so those of you who enjoy knitting, sewing, embroidery, woodwork and home renovation will get plenty done.
On the relationship front, avoid criticising your partner unnecessarily. The combination of Venus, Saturn and Mars tends to make us see those we love in their most unflattering light. While your insights may be accurate, your partner will not appreciate this brutal honesty and may give you a dose of your own medicine if you’re not careful. Focus instead on building something solid. Watch out especially for the 7th August when Mars opposes Uranus (sudden decisions you may regret later) and the 14-15th August when Venus conjuncts Saturn (feeling lonely, unloved and rejected) and the Sun opposes Neptune (not seeing things clearly).
The August full moon is on the 17th in Aquarius, accompanied by a lunar eclipse. The moon is conjunct psychic Neptune, emphasising the twilight zone energy. The effects of this eclipsed full moon could range from emotional imbalance to spiritual inspiration, so try to make time for meditation and dream work.
Mars moves into Libra on the 19th helping us take a more balanced view of relationships and providing inspiration and creativity for those involved in the arts and public relations. If you’ve been in conflict with others, now is a good time to resolve it.
The Sun moves into dutiful Virgo on the 23rd increasing the focus on practical and worldly affairs. A series of flowing trines between Jupiter and all the Virgo planets helps inspire and ground this practical energy.
Communication planet Mercury leaves home sign Virgo on the 29th and moves into diplomatic Libra and on the last day of August we have the second new moon of the month, this time in Virgo. The Virgo new moon is conjunct Saturn, promising a rather serious start to September. Have you joined that gym yet?
