JUPITER INTO CAPRICORN – TIGHTENING THE BELT!
On the 19th of this month, after a one-year stint in over-the-top Sagittarius, Jupiter moves into sober earth sign Capricorn followed by Pluto only a month later. With Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn all in earth signs, 2008 promises to be a year of economic and political realignment based on practical and financial considerations, rather than wild or unrealistic speculation. Strengthen your financial position by curbing spending, reducing debt and avoiding speculative investments or over-exposure when borrowing money. Those who like to blame government, banks or other authorities for their situation are in for a challenging and confronting year. Those with planets in Capricorn should experience a period of growth, opportunity and harvest.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAGITTARIUS
From 23rd November to 22nd December, the Sun travels through fire sign Sagittarius, a lucky, intuitive sign noted for its vision, adventurous nature and a love of philosophy. Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the zodiac with keywords “I seek” and “I expand”. Those born under the sign of the Archer often struggle to integrate their animal nature with their more lofty human side. Sagittarians seek expansion on all levels, mental, physical, emotional and spiritual, and can usually be found travelling, studying and exploring life’s big issues. They love to share their wisdom and are often talented writers or teachers. At best they are intelligent, honest, generous and inspirational. Negatively, they can be tactless, self indulgent, coarse and hypocritical. In medical astrology, Sagittarius rules the liver, hips and thighs and sacral regions of the spine. When Sagittarians are out of balance they can suffer from sciatica, hip diseases, rheumatism and weight gain. The Sagittarian colours are purple and deep blue. Sagittarius’s greatest lessons are moderation and tact.
If you’re having trouble dealing with a Sagittarian, ask yourself – “Am I talking to the human or the horse?”. An appeal to fairness usually works (especially when they persistently turn up late, don’t keep their commitments or drink your wine cellar). Failing this a stern lecture on how their behaviour is affecting you will have their bravado crumbling in no time. Just remember they mean well.... (I should know, because I’m one of them....)
JUPITER-PLUTO-GALACTIC CENTRE CONJUNCTION Win the Lot or Lose the Lot?
December is an action packed month dominated by a Jupiter-Pluto-Galactic Centre conjunction in the final degrees of Sagittarius that reaches its peak on the 12th December. Jupiter is king of heaven and Pluto, lord of death and the underworld. The combination of these two planets is one of the most powerful imaginable. Those of you with birthdays from the 8th – 23rd December and 8th –23rd June will be particularly affected by the energy. And this planetary line-up is right at the centre of our universe, meaning it has the power to change our destiny as a planet.
The motto for Jupiter Pluto is: “Win the lot or lose the lot”. Those who have laid careful foundations this year will clean up in December, while those with inflated expectations or poor preparation will be eating humble pie. The Jupiter Pluto conjunction reaches its peak on the 12th. German astrologer Reinhold Ebertin defines its effects as follows:
Positive
The desire for power on a spiritual, mental or material level. The desire to lead the masses. An appreciation of the need for social or religious reform. A brilliant gift for organisation. Spiritual and intellectual leadership.
Negative
Loss of social standing and wealth. Conflicts with authorities and government. The misfortune to lose everything. The desire to exploit the masses. Wastefulness.
On a global scale we will come to understand the social and legal implications of the brave new world we have created and how our destiny as a planet is more important than the destiny of individual nations. And as Jupiter rules international and global affairs and Pluto represents death and transformation, there could be some international crisis, such as a market crash that brings that message home. On a more optimistic note, we could see some powerful spiritual and humanitarian shifts.
The Sagittarian planetary line-up is conjunct a similar line-up in Australia’s Federation chart. I believe this period marks the beginning of a new maturity for Australia as a nation. We can be part of the breakthrough in consciousness, but we have to grow up first! This means dealing with tricky Sagittarian issues such as racism, environment, immigration, indigenous affairs, human rights and justice. With the recent change of government, we are embarking on a new era!
