2025 - A Revolutionary New Year

New year – new vibration. The astrology of 2025 has an entirely different resonance to recent years.

Astrology is based on planetary cycles – the monthly moon cycle being one we are all familiar with. Other planets in our solar system move much more slowly than the moon, so astrologers get particularly excited when a planet changes zodiac sign, as it signals a change in the collective energy and the fabric of our reality. 

What is really astonishing about the 9-month period from November 2024 to July 2025 is that every single planet in our solar system (plus the moon’s node) will change zodiac sign - even the slower-moving planets like Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

In my 30-plus years of practising astrology; I have never seen a year with so many planetary shifts.  We are talking about a complete revolution. My advice is to take a leap of faith in 2025.

Trust your inner guidance and make space for cherished dreams and projects.

Any one of these planetary shifts would warrant an entire article.  But six of them all in one year!  Let’s take a look at what we can expect as 2025 unfolds.

 

Jupiter in Cancer (June 2025-June 2026)

Jupiter, planet of expansion, abundance, growth and philosophy will enter water sign Cancer on 10th June 2025 bringing a whole year of emotional healing and inner growth.

Jupiter in Cancer invites us to explore the depths of our emotions, revisiting formative experiences, karmic family patterns, and unprocessed feelings. It offers opportunities for healing, nurturing our sensitivities, and fostering inner safety and compassion.

This transit enhances emotional intelligence, intuition, and connections with loved ones, creating a time of deeper intimacy and fulfilment.

However, as Jupiter in Cancer can amplify emotions, there can be tendency to go overboard with feelings. Focus on thoughtful expression to avoid impulsive and insensitive remarks.

This is a powerful period to strengthen relationships, prioritise self-care, and embrace emotional depth.

Saturn in Aries (May 2025-April 2028)

On 25^th May 2025, Saturn will enter fire sign Aries, blending Saturn’s responsibility, structure, and discipline with the Arian energy of passion, drive and initiation. A marathon runner training with a 100-metre sprinter perhaps?

Saturn in Aries invites us to channel Arian creativity and determination into tangible, long-term commitment. The emphasis is on personal authority, self-responsibility, courage, and resilience, encouraging us to refine desires, focus on what truly matters, and build a life aligned with those priorities.

Saturn in Aries motivates us to pursue goals with determination, but its independent energy can lead to challenges when teamwork is required. While it is important to work hard and chase dreams, collaboration remains essential to avoid conflicts and achieve shared objectives. The key is to balance individual ambition with collective effort.

 

Uranus in Gemini (July 2025-August 2032)

On 7^th July 2025, Uranus enters Gemini for the first time in 84 years (since 1941), marking a period of profound change, innovation, and intellectual breakthrough. Uranus brings a revolutionary energy to Gemini's realm of communication, learning, and mental adaptability, inspiring new ways of thinking, creating, and connecting.

We are encouraged to break free from outdated narratives, embrace fresh ideas, and explore alternative ways to learn and communicate. This period challenges us to adapt to transformative changes in communication and technology, fostering connection and progress right through to 2032.

Grounding practices, calming meditation, time in nature and relaxation will help deal with the many innovations, which can prove extremely taxing to the human nervous system.

What happened last time Uranus was in Gemini?

Here are just some of the breakthroughs that occurred when Uranus was last in Gemini (1941-1949), a period that included the entire Second World War.

• Creation of the Colossus computer, the world’s first programmable, electronic, digital computer, used for code-breaking during WWII.

• Invention of the transistor revolutionised electronics, paving the way for modern computers, radios, and telecommunication. The development of the transistor radio in 1947 changed how people consumed media, while the first televised broadcasts reached wide audiences post WWII.

• Development of radar technology improved military navigation, tracking, and weather forecasting.
   
• The first microwave oven, based on radar technology, was invented in 1945.

• Jet engines became widely adopted, leading to the first jet-powered fighter planes. The V-2 rocket was a precursor to modern space exploration and missile technology.

• The Manhattan Project culminated in the creation of the first atomic bombs, dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, ushering in the nuclear age.

• Large-scale production of penicillin revolutionised the treatment of bacterial infections.
   
• The invention of the defibrillator in 1946 advanced cardiac medicine.

Some of these inventions have greatly benefited humanity, while others have led to unimaginable destruction.  Given that both Uranus and Gemini are emotionally-detached energies (driven by head, rather than heart) it is vital to balance our thirst for scientific and technological progress with consideration for the effects on our planet and its inhabitants.

Neptune in Aries (March 2025-2039)

On 30^th March 2025, Neptune will move into fire sign Aries for the first time since 1861 - a dynamic generational shift.  Neptune has been in water sign Pisces for the past 14 years.

The planet of intuition, sacred imagination, and fantasy will blend with fiery, competitive Arian energy, encouraging actualisation of dreams and desires. Expect heightened creativity and passion turning ideas into reality through bold action.

With Aries ruled by Mars, god of war, people all over the world will stand up and fight for their ideals. Last time Neptune was in Aries (1861-1875) slavery and the treatment and status of African-Americans were at the heart of the crisis that plunged the USA into a civil war from 1861 to 1865.

Also during this historical period, concepts like spiritualism and mediumship gained in popularity. Over the next 14 years, Neptune in Aries will bring groundbreaking ideas, challenge perceptions, and push our spiritual and creative boundaries. While this period fosters self-discovery and exploration of the ethereal, it also calls for discernment to avoid illusions and addictions. All that visionary energy requires a grounded approach.

 

Pluto in Aquarius (November 2024-2044)

Air sign Aquarius champions collective power, shared resources, and progress-driven solutions, dismantling outdated hierarchies to build inclusive, collaborative communities. The restless, innovative energy of Aquarius drives uncharted ideas, valuing the collective good over tradition and building communities that work for everyone.

Transformational Pluto in Aquarius (2024-2043) promises a massive humanitarian revolution — activism like we haven’t seen in our lifetime - that will change the course of history, leading to changes in government, social structures, and technology. But will 20 years of Pluto in Aquarius lead to an egalitarian utopia or an AI (artificial intelligence) takeover?  Only time will tell.

Because Pluto has such a long orbit (248 years) we haven’t experienced his complete journey through Aquarius since the late 1700s, which witnessed the American and French Revolutions. The current Pluto in Aquarius transit challenges humanity to unite, rewrite the rules, and prioritise shared visions for a brighter, more equitable future.

 

North Node in Pisces (January 2025 - August 2026)

A space of profound healing takes place when the karmic lunar nodes change sign every year and a half. The north node points to the direction of our evolution, both collectively and individually. The south node to attitudes and behaviours we need to release. As the node enters a new pair of zodiac signs, the themes, archetypes, and energies we are guided to develop and embody shift too.

From 12^th January 2025 to 27^th July 2026, the North Node will transit water sign Pisces, guiding collective and personal evolution toward Piscean spirituality, intuition, and compassion. This transit invites us to embrace healing, surrender, imagination, and sacred connection. North Node in Pisces emphasises love, forgiveness, and empathy as transformative forces, encouraging trust in the unseen and the intuitive.

Meanwhile, the South Node in Virgo prompts the release of self-judgement, perfectionism, and control, offering a path to release unreasonable expectations. This period fosters self-love and reminds us to honour ourselves and others with compassion and acceptance, leading to emotional and spiritual growth.
