FEEL LIKE A DOSE OF HARRY POTTER?
Since the release of movies such as ‘What the Bleep’ and ‘The Secret’ there has been a huge increase in the number of people interested in the laws of attraction and manifestation.
I’m excited by this new ‘trend’ because I’ve always loved ‘magic’ – the ability to create fast, tangible results in a seemingly miraculous way. Locating a car spot in the CBD, manifesting a new partner or finding that dream home or job.
Since I was a child I’ve used magic combined with logic to manifest the life of my dreams. Sometimes you have to plan methodically, roll up your sleeves and get down to work, other times the magic wand and a quick spell or ritual is definitely the way to go.
Logic + Magic = Miracles! And a knowledge of astrological cycles, helping you choose the best time to act, is simply the icing on the cake. Ironically, I rarely talk about how I use magic in my daily life because people usually laugh or look scared if I even mention the word!
Most of us have lost the ability to work with supernatural forces and natural energies. Scientific knowledge is wonderful, but in its present incarnation, it only takes you so far. We all know people who seem to be lucky or able to make their dreams come true. How do they do it?
If you’d like to learn more about how to tap into your own magical powers and create the life of your dreams, I’ll be holding a full two day weekend conference in late August (30th & 31st) at the Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne on Magic & Manifestation with Howard Tinker. Mark the date in your diary. More details to follow soon.
GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL & ABORIGINAL STONE CIRCLES
I’m currently in the UK visiting my family for a few weeks. As usual the English summer is rivalling the Melbourne winter, but this doesn’t stop hardy Brits from attending outdoor festivals in the pouring rain or celebrating the dawn of the summer solstice at Stonehenge when it’s less than five degrees outside! While I’m here, I’ve been researching the amazing prehistoric stone circles and earthworks that are found all over this part of the world. Circles, cairns, earth mounds, underground tunnels and springs, all connected by ley lines, crisscrossing the country like arteries and veins. Sacred energy channels linking magnetic terrestrial and celestial forces.
I’m always writing about Western astronomy, so I decided to find out about Aboriginal astronomy. To my amazement, I discovered that we have our own mini-Stonehenge in Victoria! The Wurdi Youang stone arrangement near the You Yangs in the Bacchus Marsh region was built by the Wathaurung people, thousands of years ago. Wurdi Youang translates as ‘big mountain in the middle of a plain’. This egg-shaped ring of stones, about 50 metres across is built in an East-West alignment. At the Western end, at the highest point of the circle, are three large waist-high stones. Ray Norris, an astrophysicist from CSIRO has done extensive research on Aboriginal astronomy. He believes that some outlying stones to the West of the circle, as viewed from these three stones, indicate the setting positions of the sun at the equinoxes and solstices. I can’t wait to check this out for myself when I get back to Australia!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANCER
From the 21st June to the 22nd July the Sun travels through cardinal water sign Cancer. Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac with keywords “I feel” and “I fluctuate”. Cancer’s symbol is the crab, an instinctive creature dwelling in the watery depths in the safety of its shell. Cancers are extremely sensitive. They love to mother and nurture others and have a strong attachment to home, family and community. At best Cancers are in touch with their feelings and display kindness, love and compassion. They are highly emotional, usually love food and have a reputation for taking care of friends, family and workmates. Negatively, the Cancer individual can be moody, dependent, illogical, manipulative and insecure. Cancer rules the stomach, breasts and solar plexus. When Cancers are out of balance they suffer from digestive upsets, water retention and breast problems. The Cancer colours are silver and pastel shades and women born under this sign often love antique jewellery and lingerie! Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so those with a prominent Moon in their chart often display Cancer qualities. Cancer’s greatest lesson is to live in the present and to deal with feelings of fear and insecurity.
How do you handle a Cancer?
Appeal to their emotions. Be kind. Take interest in their family. Don’t force them to be logical or practical. If they try to manipulate you (guilt, victim-like behaviour and tears are a deadly combination) be firm, ask them how they feel and then listen carefully. Chocolates and small thoughtful gifts work wonders.
SEDUCING A CANCER
TIPS FOR MEN
This sensitive girl is looking for a kind-hearted partner who loves home and hearth even if she pretends otherwise! Lots of hugs and reassurance, small gifts and shows of affection will win her heart. Share her emotional ups and downs and she’ll be loyal for life. She loves children so if you don’t – watch out!
TIPS FOR WOMEN
Cancer the Crab carries his home on his back. This guy is usually very close to his family and loved ones so ask him about his nearest and dearest and there'll be plenty to talk about. Invite him to your home for a romantic dinner and show him photos of your own family. He loves intimacy and a soft touch.
MAKING MINCEMEAT OF THE MALEFIC MARS SATURN CONJUNCTION
Don’t you love the word ‘malefic’? It sounds like something out of a Grimm’s fairy tale. Well in astrology we have two planets that have earned the title ‘malefic’ or ‘bad’ - Mars and Saturn - and this month they are hanging out together in Virgo. Mars wants to get things done, Saturn wants to slow things down, so imagine driving a car with the brakes on. Keywords for this combo are ‘frustration’ ‘delay’ ‘anger’ ‘slow burn’ ‘unfortunate action’ and the list continues.. The point is, if you’re trying to get something done and it seems as though everything and everyone is standing in your way, you’re probably right. You will need patience, endurance and self-discipline to cope. Lower your sights and take it easy for a couple of weeks. Whatever you do, don’t lose your temper! Any delays will prove fortuitous in the long run.
JULY ASTRO ENERGIES
Welcome to midwinter. With five outer planets plus the north node in retrograde motion, you may be wondering if life has truly come to a standstill and whether your cherished plans will ever come to fruition. Traditionally winter time is a time of retreat and reflection and these retrograde planets simply add to that sense of stasis. Giant Jupiter will be travelling backwards until September, so use the winter period to complete projects and gain a better perspective on where you are heading. Growth is more likely to be internal rather than external. On the 9th July, Jupiter opposes the Sun helping you understand the events of the past six months with great clarity. If you don’t like what you see – change course.
The Cancer new moon on the 3rd has ‘revelation’ as its theme, so try meditation or spend time alone to attune yourself with the water sign energy. A trine between Mercury, Chiron and Neptune will help you listen to your heart. The new moon is conjunct sensual and kindhearted Venus in Cancer, so this abundance of feminine energy should prove healing and restful. Mercury joins the Sun and Venus in Cancer on the 11th bringing dreams and psychic insight. Cancer is the sign of home and hearth, so spend time with your family and friends this month rather than pushing for achievement in the outer world. July is also a good month to resolve family conflicts.
This month’s full moon is in Capricorn on the 18th. The Cancer-Capricorn opposition highlights the tug-of-war between the responsibilities you have to your private life, family members, and home situation -- and the emotional yearning for fame, acclaim, recognition, and accomplishment in your professional field and career.
The Sun moves into fire sign Leo on the 22nd, followed by Mercury on the 26th. The mood becomes lighter and brighter, helped by a flowing angle between Mars and Jupiter, promoting confidence and enthusiasm and a trine between Mercury and Uranus, encouraging radical or alternative points of view..
At the end of July Venus slides across the South Node and opposes Chiron asking you to let go of old relationship patterns or people who do not truly love you. Fate will lend a helping hand bringing more positive relationships that support your growth.
