Australian Federal Election Predictions

By Stella Woods, 01-08-2010

PARTY LEADERS

Julia Gillard – Australian Labor Party (replaced Kevin Rudd as leader on 24 June 2010)

Julia is Libra with Gemini Moon and Scorpio rising – very smart, diplomatic woman with gift of the gab.  Able to work behind the scenes and keep cards close to her chest – completely devoted to the cause and to education.  Not a show pony.  Hard worker.

Tony Abbott – Coalition (Liberal-National Party) Time of birth unknown.

Tony is Scorpio with Aries moon – very competitive and strategic.  Plays cards close to chest, but like Julia is committed to the cause.  Not a show pony. Hard worker.

Bob Brown – Greens  (have five senate seats – 3 women, 2 men). Greens Leader since 2005.  Party formed in early nineties and support steadily rising.

Bob is Capricorn with Gemini moon and Taurus rising. Very hard worker. A thinker  Man out to change the system. Revolutionary ideas.  His chart fits most closely with the chart of Australia.  Has the most experience in politics  20 years+.

ELECTION DAY CHART – THE MOOD ON THE DAY

Mercury is retrograde at the time of the Australian election set for 8 am in Canberra (could result in disputed returns, recounts, challenges) goes direct on the 14th September.  Was also retrograde at time of the UK election Hung Parliament back in May 2010 which resulted in Conservative-Lib Dem alliance with Conservative PM David Cameron and Deputy PM Nick Clegg

Sun opposite Neptune – lack of clarity – we have no idea who will triumph

Venus conjunct Mars – balance between male and female energies.  Women are important in this election which could favour Gillard.

With Mercury retrograde, we won’t see a true picture for some time – this is why political commentators are calling the close election.

Moon in Capricorn and Sun in Leo on election day.  People will be thinking about themselves, their money, their mortgages and the practical issues of everyday life.  A lot of fear in the electorate. Strong focus on environment and border security.

AUSTRALIAN FEDERATION CHART

1st January 1901  First PM Edmund Barton took oath of office at 1.25-35 pm in Sydney

KEY  AUSTRALIAN INTERESTS & CHARACTERISTICS BASED ON THIS CHART

CAPRICORN/TAURUS EARTH THEMES

LAND, MONEY, HOUSING, SECURITY, FOOD, PLEASURES OF THE FLESH, CONSERVATIVE, HARD WORK, DOWN TO EARTH, NO NONSENSE, ENVIRONMENT

AND

SAGITTARIUS/ARIES FIRE THEMES

OUTDOORS, ADVENTURE, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, TRAVEL, FREEDOM, MULTICULTURALISM, FUN, PARTYING, GAMBLING, SPORT

WHAT AUSTRALIANS FIND CHALLENGING

THE WATER ELEMENT

EMOTIONS, FEELINGS, WATER, > COMES OUT AS DEPRESSION, DRINKING, DROUGHT

AND AIR IS ALSO CHALLENGING

PRACTICAL RATHER THAN INTELLECTUAL APPROACH,  DISTRUST OF QUALIFICATIONS, AUSSIES PREFER EXPERIENCE TO TALKING AND THEORISING

Australia has Pluto planet of transformation and rebirth heading towards its natal Sun over the next few years – the environment is going to be a key issue over the coming decade and we will be forced to do things differently.  Either use less power or pay more for cleaner power.  Ditto for water.  (Volcano, earthquakes, tidal waves, floods etc – natural disasters will be become more of an issue worldwide.  We will realise “No environment, no economy”.

Julia is Libra (AIR) and Tony is Scorpio (WATER) Bob is Capricorn (EARTH)

The lack of apparent pizzazz or vision in this campaign, spoken of in the media, is due to the lack of FIRE in the leaders’ charts, but then these leaders are more grounded than most and all are sincere about wanting change.

KEY ISSUES

The key issues in this election are economy, tax, paid parental leave, health, telecommunications, immigration and climate.  Lot of fear in electorate over rising costs of living and home security (borders and mortgage affordability).

CONCLUSIONS

1)      Close contest, backlash against Labor. Labor marginal win, but balance of power in Senate held by Greens (and possibly in House of Representatives by the three independents and a possible Green Federal MP (Adam Bandt seat of Melbourne replacing Lindsay Tanner).

2)      Increase in number of people voting for Greens and parties like the Australian Sex Party (up to 15 percent or 1.5 million voters), especially those who feel marginalised by the two major parties who focus on unions vs business.

3)      Australian overall focus is on financial security, border security and protecting the environment.  Australia’s secondary progressed Sun changing from masculine fire sign Aries to feminine earth sign Taurus and secondary progressed Lunar Return in Taurus six months ago – new female, earth environment, financial, security centred direction.  Move away from individualistic, pioneering culture of Aries  - past 30 years (since 1980)

UK general election on 6th May 2010 – Hung Parliament

Hung Parliament resulted in Conservative-Lib Dem alliance with Conservative PM David Cameron and Deputy PM Nick Clegg.  We could see a similar situation in Australia with the Greens holding balance of power.

Outgoing PM was Gordon Brown (Labour)  Acting leader is Harriet Harman – new leadership to be decided in September.

Mercury was also retrograde at the time of the UK election
